Just spotted this at Meijer. The lady was very happy to let me snap a shot and to tell me it’s for sale.

Saw that before. Probably here on Oppo. Easy access for a wheel chair dependent driver. Doesn’t look like it was bought for her.

EDIT: Svend and I posted at the same time. Except his is complete with photos.

Based on the being parked in an ADA handicapped spot. It’s easier for someone to get into their chevy with a gull wing door.

I’ll have to take a picture one on these days. But their is a farmer who lives near me that is wheelchair bound. Couple of years ago, after his accident, he started buying chevy crew cabs where the entire driver side comes straight out and then an elevator comes down for him to drive onto. Lifts him up and he’s right back in the driver seat.

That looks like a very expensive conversion.

Is it parked in a handicap stall?

As others have pointed out, it’s a wheelchair accessible pick’m’up trugh. This is the company that built it.  If you give them enough cash they’ll do that to an Escalade.

I didn't even realize it was in a handicap spot (couldn't see the plates). I was a dumbfounded as the cart boy was.

I honestly didn't even notice it was parked in a handicap spot. It was neat to see something new, and that there are some decent options for our handicapped automotive enthusiasts.

Ye’, I’ve seen them on the internet a few times. In the U.K., U.S., etc... the car goes to a coachbuilder to be altered, in Japan you can buy these direct from the manufacturer, I can’t remember what the vehicle type is called there, but these have an extensive range.

At first I was not a fan in any way shape or form, but after reading the comments and understanding what it is for, this is good.

Google translate turns the J apanese into “welfare vehicles” on goo-net, and I can’t read the kanji.

That sounds about right. The cars are on the website with the regular ones.

These frighten the hell out of me! I work in the collision industry and these are so cheaply built with all the structure effectively rendered useless. They’re a rolling death trap in a wreck.
